On June 7th, 1927, Jack answered his telephone.
“Jack? This is George Marion . . . from the 24th Aero Squadron in France . . . I chased the kraut off your tail the day you crashed at Souilly Aerodrome during the War.”
Duty-bound to help the man who saved his life, Jack agrees to the fighter pilot’s urgent plea and finds himself embroiled in a fifty year-old mystery in ancient Indian ruins in the New Mexico desert of Chaco Canyon. Myths and facts interweave in a blanket of suspense and intrigue while Jack and his friends struggle to pierce his war-time comrade’s deceits to learn the true purpose of their mission – and survive.
Obligation Flight is the second in a series of Jack Riley mysteries. In Jack’s first adventure, The Babylon Hoard, he solved the 1,000 year old riddle of The Key – hidden by an ancient Babylonian king, found by Crusaders, brought to America by Maryland Colonists – and finally deciphered by Jack and his friends.

I love the way this guy writes! Each book is different, the prose is based on the time period, slang and all. This is the fourth novel of his that I have read and reviewed, each different and unique, with perhaps the exception of the Jack Riley novels. As they're set in the same time period, the 1920s, they share some similarities. One thing that I really enjoyed about this, other than the story itself, was the way he included actual photos of the period in which the story takes place, including those of the archaeological digs in Chaco Canyon. It gives you more of a feeling of what it was actually like. The Jack Riley series are great adventure novels and they're fun to read, too! It's like meeting up with old friends again and sharing in their adventures from the desert of Iraq to that of New Mexico. His research makes it believable as well as his knowledge of flying. I'll have to warn you though - once you pick it up, you're not going to want to put it down till it's done! It really is that good.Product details
