Living with Bell Palsy edition by Marnie Suzanne Nemcoff Health Fitness Dieting eBooks

This is a great little e-book on this woman's experience with Bell's Palsy. Recently someone I know has been struck with this terrible disease or syndrome or whatever the medical world likes to call it. It is a very devastating and shocking thing to happen to oneself. When it happens to you, or someone you love, you almost always go online to look it up. The first thing you see is a lot of very negative and hopeless statements about the prognosis of Bell's Palsy. There are other statements that it is temporary and with swift treatment (anti-inflammatories & anti-virals) most people recovery fully from 1 - 2 months, but those are not the words you see or at least focus on. You see the experiences of people who had very little improvement even months and years later. And that is scary! But this author, writing about her own experience, did a great job at conveying her thoughts and feelings about Bell's Palsy, as well as facts, in a positive way. It is not a depressing book. It is encouraging. Very well done! I hope that everyone who reads it heals well if they have Bell's Palsy.

Living with Bell Palsy edition by Marnie Suzanne Nemcoff Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews

This book is just what I needed! I'm 6weeks into my life journey living with bells. Everything you wrote about was exactly what I'm going through. like you, I went the route of acupuncture. It was the best decision I made for myself. My doctor sent me there. This story is so true to life. It was nice to read it. I would recommend it! Again thank you!

My husband has Bell's Palsy and was not given steroids at the beginning as he should have had and it has now been over 4 months so now we are trying an acupuncturist and his protocols and are hoping for some success. Thanks for the book.
Very nice and informative book. This can relax you a bit and give some comfort but do not forget that the most important first step is to run to a doctor to start treatment as soon as possible. The book does not mention the use of steroids as the main medication to cure the inflammation of the nerve, although that is essential. Vitamin B also helps restore nerves (ask which type to take). Electrotherapy is also great, together with massage and facial excercise. Recovery is not happening from one day to another, but starting treatment as soon as possible is very important.
My husband has had Bell's Palsy for 12 years. First off don't let that discourage you! He hasn't done the things he could have done to help himself. Marnie has written a book from the perspective of the sufferer. She has provided some much needed insight to the thoughts and feelings of someone afflicted with Bell's Palsy. She has written about her journey thru the disease and how she has helped heal herself. Her story is one I believe will help me help my husband.

This book is not only helpful to those who have Bell's Palsy but to those who have loved ones dealing with Bell's Palsy.
A must read for anyone who has Bell's Palsy or for anyone you know who has it. A very personal, well-written account of her experience with Bell's. I got it 4 yrs ago at age 40 and wish I had this treasure of information and support then.

All the questions/thoughts I had at the time I had BP are addressed in this book. What Bell's Palsy is, detailed symptoms list, why we get it, tracking your progress, how it is going back to work, and the emotional and physical therapy that can really help your healing journey.

While some of the information I did get from my doctors, most of it I did NOT. Her tips and "must haves" are invaluable. I strongly agree with her on keeping a journal. Our mind plays tricks on us about our progress. If I had to do it all over again - (among other things) I would journal from Day 1.

And, yes there are plenty of articles online - most not near as informative, well-written, or concise.
Save yourself the time of weeding through those - for the price and the size of the book (very short read) - do not hesitate to purchase this book. No-brainer.
While I appreciate hearing the story of the author, this book gave me false hope. I am at 7 months, 6 months after reading this, and have been told that I will never recover the final 20% of my face. I will never smile with my teeth. I will never really smile very much with my mouth. My eye will always be a little littler. I have accepted these things as one does - I focus on the beauty in the rest of my life, a trite thing to say, but the truth.

This author made me think I would recover, not meaning to, but know this not everyone does. Reading her story, while it is more common, gave me false hope and I wish I had had more realistic expectations going forward. Also, the medical information in here is what you can find on the web in one google.

I gave it 3 stars because it is a good story and I think writing and talking about Bell's in any sense or case is a brave thing.

Good luck to all of you reading this because you have been affected somehow by this strange disease -- find a sound, an image, a thought that gives you great joy and imagine it in your mind's eye -- it will help you learn to smile again with the correct neurons.
