With his faithful valet Kato, Britt Reid, daring young publisher, matches wits with the Underworld, risking his life so that criminals and racketeers may feel the weight of the law through the sting of the Green Hornet!

Moonstone is proud to present The Green Hornet Chronicles, the first anthology featuring all-new original crime fiction tales of the man who hunts the biggest game, public enemies that even the FBI can't reach!

It's the mid 1960s, the political climate is shaky, there's civil unrest, freedom and equality issues erupt everywhere from film to music to out in the streets. On police records the green Hornet is actually a wanted criminal, a master manipulator, a crime boss who has his fingers in every pie.

In reality, The Green Hornet is actually Britt Reid,m owner-publisher of the Daily Sentinel. His goal is to destroy crime from within by posing as a criminal himself.

For several years now, Moonstone Books has been putting out high-quality anthologies featuring classic characters such as the Spider, Zorro, and Captain Midnight. Now, once again, Moonstone has dipped into this well, with an anthology of stories featuring the Green Hornet and his valet Kato, based on the continuity of the 1966-1967 TV series starring Van Williams and the soon-to-be-internationally-famous Bruce Lee. Editors Joe Gentile (himself editor-in-chief at Moonstone) and Win Scott Eckert (editor of a previous anthology: 2005's Myths for the Modern Age: Philip José Farmer's Wold Newton Universe, and most recently the solo author of the brilliant 2-volume work Crossovers: A Secret Chronology of the World), have gathered an impressive array of tales. Particular highlights are Will Murray's "The Night Car", Greg Cox's "I Had the Green Hornet's Love Child!" (I agree with Barry Reese as to the excellence of that particular title, incidentally), Richard Dean Starr's "Nothing Gold Can Stay", Eckert's "Fang and Sting", and Matthew Baugh's "The Inside Man". If anything disappointed me about the book, it's that Harlan Ellison didn't complete his GH/Phantom crossover "The Soul of Solomon", as the premise sounded intriguing. The artwork is excellent as well, with a gorgeous painted cover by Glenn Orbik and masterful interior art accompanying each story by Ruben Procopio. Anyone with any love for the Green Hornet, whether via the original radio show, the TV series, or the Now Comics version (whose primary author Ron Fortier also has a tale in this anthology), must acquire this immediately!
